The Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, Dr. Uduak Sunday Ukekpe , has charged matriculating students to intensively work hard for the attainment of excellent academic performance in the institution.

Dr. Ukekpe stated this in his speech during the 6th Matriculation ceremony for the newly admitted students for 2020 / 2021 academic session at the Main Campus of the Polytechnic on Thursday in Ukana.

In his words,”the school Management is doing everything within her power to make the learning and teaching environment conducive for both students and staff in a bid to guarantee excellent academic performance by hardworking students.

According to the Rector, “the institution has unique and sterling qualities ideal for the training of students. This is anchored on train the head, the heart and the hands .In this place, your hidden talents will be discovered, and your known talents fine-tuned, so that you will become an embodiment of the gifted, brilliant, endowed and capable person, who will go out to make Nigeria proud, uplift the African continent and positively impact on the entire world,” he stressed.

He further implored the students to stay away completely from drug abuse, cultism and the likes, saying that the Polytechnic has zero tolerance for these vices. He added that cultism, stealing , physical and sexual assault are highly prohibited.

“If you are caught indulging in this act, the Polytechnic will not hesitate to apply appropriate sanction, which may include suspension or expulsion” he warned.

He also used the occasion to commend TETFund for their immense support through interventions which have greatly impacted the institution. In his words ” More than 85% of the buildings you are seeing here in the main campus are courtesy of TETFund interventions. They have been supportive and as such deserve our appreciation”.
During the ceremony, students were formally admitted into National Diploma programmes in Computer Science and Statistics.
The State coordinator of JAMB, Akwa Ibom State, Mr.Joseph Oboh in a goodwill message congratulated the students and urged them to make good use of the opportunity granted them through their admission.
